The Inimitable Tom Rhea

Tom Rhea a Professor at Berklee College of Music, will be presenting a seminar on The History of Electronic Musical Instruments this Friday, April 21 at 4:00pm in the IMC Television Studio.

Tom has been involved with musical instruments during his entire career as a musician, composer, and teacher. At the Berklee College of Music, where Professor Rhea is the Assistant Chairman of the Synthesis Department, he teaches state of the art synthesizers, MIDI controllers, keyboards and samplers. However, he has long been interested in the history of this field of music, and so he has collected many historical instruments and documented how they work, how they sound and how they were used.

Tom Rhea is a captivating speaker with strong views of the state of this industry and of its future. Laboratory for Acoustical, Music, and Multimedia (Lam3)faculty members of the WPI Humanities, CS and ECE Departments are pleased to be able to present him to you for a close look at this fascinating area of music making. Contact Professor Campbell at rhcamp@ee.wpi.edu for more information. This presentation is also partially funded by the WPI Student Speakers Fund.
