Campus-Wide party hits the Quad

by Amy L. Plack - Newspeak Staff and QuadFest Committee Co-Chair

This Wednesday, from noon to four-thirty and again from seven to eleven PM, the efforts of the QuadFest Committee will be rewarded, as QuadFest III: Toucan Jam will hit the Quadrangle in full force. The daytime festivities will begin at noontime, with a cookout served up by IFC and Panhel, with the veggie kabob expertise of the Vegetarian Society. Free soda will also be provided, as well as soft-serve ice cream, cotton candy, courtesy of Phi Sigma Sigma sorority and sno-cones made by Skull.

Back this year by popular demand are Airball and the Gyroscope, as well as Virtual Reality Games and Fun Flicks: make your own video (and take it home for free), sponsored by the Social Committee. Adding to the fun will be the Resident Advisors with their dunk tank, paid for by the Office of Residential Services. Nine RA's and IFC President Justin Cutroni will grace the tank between noon and 5:00, so don't miss your chance to show your RA who's the boss!

Students will also get the opportunity to be drawn by a professional caricaturist, try their hands at sand art, and get their own temporary tattoos. All these events are free to everyone.

The Student Alumni Society's pie-eating contest is also back this year, and sign-ups have already begun. The Philler Phun Phind begins tonight, April 25th, with sign-ups taking place in Fuller Laboratories outside of the Lens and Lights cult film double feature. Other contests include a sand castle building competition and a limbo contest, both occurring at the nighttime festivities.

The Hawaiian Luau will begin at 7PM, featuring "Down East," a cover band with a repertoire spanning from Eagles to Green Day. Bacchus will be serving up their famous mocktails, and the Pre-Med/Pre-Vet Society returns again with their fruit fondue. The winners of all contests will be announced over the course of the evening, and prizes will be awarded.

What could be more fun than a day in the sun, free food, and lots of cool stuff to do? Well, QuadFest IV, I suppose, but we haven't gotten that far yet. Come on out and enjoy QuadFest III: Toucan Jam!
