The event kicks off on Friday night with Live Bands , free food and giveaways from 5pm-midnight. A feeding frenzy will ensue with many local restaurants showcasing their specialties. Music and dancing run continuously 'til midnight and every person through the door receives a chance to win a Winter Break ski trip for two to a major ski area.
We get down to business on Saturday with the Internship Fair opening up at 11am. At noon, the Food Fest whets everyone's appetite as Worcester Restaurants compete for "Best of College Fest". It's your chance to influence the world, if only in a small way, and vote for your favorite. At 4pm, the armory becomes a gymnasium when Velcro jumping, Basketball shootout, Sumo wrestling and more takes over for hours of fun. Then, just like Friday night, music blasts as Worcester students dance late into the evening. Don't forget the drawing to win a trip for two to Jamaica during Spring Break as well as another ski trip (must be present to win both nights' drawings). For students "of age," several local bars will offer free cover charge after 11pm on both nights with a College Fest admission ticket (and I.D. of course).
No wheels? No problem. The WRTA will run continuous FREE bus service from the Colleges to the National Guard Armory both days. Watch for the bus schedule and stops in Newspeak and the Worcester Telegram and Gazette.
You also have a chance to give back to the community at College Fest. For every nonperishable food item donated to the Worcester County Food Bank, you will receive another raffle ticket to win one of the three trips being raffled. Just bring your donation to the Food Bank Table at College Fest and have your name put into the drawings a second time. The more items you bring, the more chances you have of winning a Winter Break Ski Trip for two or the Spring Break trip to Jamaica for you and a friend. Let's all be generous and give to those who have less than ourselves.
So keep a look out for the College Fest representative and WAAF Rock Bus to make a stop at WPI on September 7th.
If you miss the Tour, tickets may be available in the Student Activities Office. Tickets for the event are $3.00 when purchased on campus, $5.00 at the door, and one ticket gets you in both days! Your ticket also gets you discounts at some establishments represented at the event , so don't lose it! With every ticket sold during the campus tour comes a gift bag full of cool stuff. Remember to bring the coupon from your bag to receive a free copy of the exclusive College Fest '95 CD.
We hope to see you all at College Fest '95 with a mouthful of food and an armload of free gifts!
