
Minutes for the meeting of August, 29, 1995
Meeting held in the Lower Wedge
I. Meeting called to order at 6:00pm.
II. Attendance:
Executive Board: Cathy Connelly, President; Kirsty Reidy, Vice President.; Chizzy Uchendu, Secretary; Greg Snow, Treasurer.
Senate: Heather Cleary, Shelly Ann Cote, Ryan Daly, Shannon Finley, Matt Freimuth, Beth Gentry, Marni Hall, Ed Hallissey, Rebecca Hoffman, Michael Marks, Amy Plack, Dave Smith, Kristen Stagg, Tim Tully, Cindy Vollaro.
Alfred Andrade, Paula Brezniak, Simba Dut-Mazumbar, Seth Kintigh, Jason Mickey (excused), Jeremy Olszewski (excused), John Pieper, Jeff Spaleta.
Parliamentarian: Greg Marr (acting Parliamentarian)
III. President's Remarks:
President Connelly congratulated the senate on a great activities fair. Mentioned that any non-senator can not hold office hours until new legislation is ratified. Concerning Riley Hall renovations: the CDC and admissions office will not move into Riley Hall. West street is closed. Any ideas of what to do Freeman Plaza or West street area talk to John Miller. The campus Creed, which has been passed by SGA and GSO has not been passed by the faculty yet.
IV. Vice-President's Remarks:
Vice-President Reidy is working on better integration of academic committees.
V. Secretary's Remarks:
Secretary Uchendu discussed matters pertaining to the senate such as: Office Hours, Term Schedules, Committee Sign up sheets, Committee Reports, Agendas and the Info. Book.
VI. Treasurer's Remarks:
Treasurer Snow asked everyone to refer people with questions about the photocopier contract to him. An approximation of the reserves in Classes 1&2 and 3&4 were given.
VII. Committee Reports:
Public Relations: Chair Stagg reported that key-chains were placed on keys of incoming class, SGA pamphlets were stuffed into every campus mail box and there was a table at the activities fair that was successful. SGA Committee's meeting times and locations are needed in order to fulfill the students requests.
Committee on Academic Operation: Committee Rep Butland stated that the committee meets Fridays at 2:30pm. She also reported that for the past few weeks they have heard student petitions. They approved the Management's Depts. proposal for a Minor in management Information Systems. Now it has to be approved by the faculty.
They are also looking at for: minors in Entrepeneurship , Law and Technology and Concentrations in the Chemical Engineering dept. many more proposals for minor and concentrations will be coming up in the future.
VIII. Special Orders:
Vice President Reidy and Treasurer Snow presented information from the Summer Conference. A full report can be found in the SGA office.
Senator Daly motioned to suspend Robert's rules of order. Motion passed.
Daly wants to start setting goals. Wants to develop the concept of the third tower which means community.
Robert's rules of order were reinstated.
IX. Meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m
