Book Review: Favorite Places of Worcester County

"Yes, there really is a lot to do in Worcester"

by Dave Koelle - Advertising Manager

Whoever says that there's nothing to do in Worcester hasn't looked hard enough! "Favorite Places of Worcester County," written in cooperation by the Worcester Telegram & Gazette and Tantuck Booksellers, describes every place you would ever want to go in the area: pool halls, skating rinks, restaurants, shopping centers, museums and art galleries... Whatever your interests, there's bound to be something for you in this book! Many of the suggestions were contributed by nearly 700 residents of Worcester County during a "Favorite Places" contest held last fall. There are 1400 entries in this guide, which should be enough to occupy anyone's free time!

The book also has profiles of each of Worcester County's 60 towns, which includes town histories and data such as tax rates, SAT scores, and population. It also describes famous people, famous firsts, and inventions which originated in central Massachusetts. Did you know the first curve ball was thrown in Athol, or that Johnny Appleseed was born in Leominster?

Favorite Places or Worcester County contains profiles of local colleges, which includes descriptions of the colleges as well as degree programs, sports information, and impressive facts.

Look for "Favorite Places of Worcester County" at Tatnuck Booksellers and Sons Marketplace (335 Chandler St, Worcester) and other local bookstores.
