Bacchus
Hello Everyone! Here is this term's first Bacchus club corner! First, I'd like to thank everyone for a job well done with orientation. The success of Bacchus Flix and Mix nites would not have been if not for the efforts of our awesome members! Speaking of which, I'd like to mention a few things that come to mind - like Susan, who abandoned her parents in Cape Cod to help out with Mix Nite. Nice job Sue, will they ever forgive you? Also, I'd like to thank our friend Zigmund for appearing and making some mocktails - see you again next year man! Lucy, thanks for dancing with me when no one else would... Greg, no more caffiene for you, that's final, and thanks to everyone else who showed up, you all did a great job! Lastly, I'd like to thank Chris J, the OL's, campus police, Mary and Sue, and everyone else who helped, gave advice and basically made the entire project possible! Now, with the past out of the way, we kinda look to the future...let me see, what's up with Bacchus. OK, meetings, this is a good subject. New meeting time! Meetings are now on Tuesdays at 6:00, next week they will be Thursday at 4:00, the week after it will be Saturday at 1:00. Just kidding, the Tues. at 6 is correct, be there if you can! Also, we're setting up for several different activities for A & B terms, if you're interested, head down to a meeting. Have a pleasant day and I'll see you tonight! -PS
Chinese Student Association
Hiya hiya you all CSA members, whats up?
Last week was a very very busy week for CSA, I think you can tell by the sudden increase of mailing you have received. Fortunately, everything went well.
First come the intramurals, we have 3 volleyball games and 1 flag football game. Well, we did pretty good. We won 2 and we lost 2, so that makes it even huh . Keep going CSA Dragons !!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Welcome Party: well, we have uh.... around 20 people... nah, it should be more... let's say around 30.. yeah. it must be 30.. in and out. Well the game session was fun.. Just think how can you draw Jacklock and Our dear Advisor on the paper.... hee hee. And then it was the Dance Party.... woooo.. there was only several ppl dancing at the beginning, but at around 8:30p.m. more ppl started to show up, and I am sure everyone there had fun. Well just maybe they couldn't hear anything for a while when the night was over.
Oh, for those of you who want CSA T-shirts, order now by mailing to dragon@wpi.wpi.edu. The deadline is Friday, September 22.

Ok, you take care now, we will see you next week BIYA !
Christian Bible Fellowship
Praise the Lord! If you need a reason, how about this. You're alive, its a beautiful day, and the Lord made it that way! Come and join us in the praise.
Here's a list of our weekly activities: Prayer and Share, Tuesday (Morgan A, 8:00pm); Friday night fellowship, Friday (Lower Wedge, 7:00pm); Sports, Saturday (meet in front of Alumni at 10:30am). This week, I am sorry to say we will not be having sports. This is because we are going to Mt. Monadnock Saturday. Also this week, "See you at the pole" is Wednesday at 7am. Come and join us in prayer at the flag pole between Higgins Labs and Alden Hall.
"You are awesome, O God, in your sanctuary; the God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Praise be to God!" Psalm 68:35 (NIV). David wrote this. We are surrounded by God's good works. When we realize this, we should do as David did, Praise God. Don't take what He has done and can do for granted, but give Him praise. I challenge you to find something this week to praise God for. Something that you haven't given praise for before. Acknowledging it was God's work, and giving Him praise will lighten your heart.
ISC
Yes, yes, this is it. It's this week. The big meeting, we've all been waiting for! I've had people walk up to me on the streets with bloodshot eyes, pleading, "Please, please, let's have the meeting now! I'm withering away with anticipation..."
Well, it's going to be 'all that' and some! This WEDNESDAY at 4:30 PM in MORGAN A. Everybody who is somebody is going to be there. I know I'm going to be there....are you?
We've got a great agenda. So much fun, so little time. So many things to get done, so much excitement, so much...........aaaghhh!! Well, all I can say is: If you're not there, you might as well walk around campus with a sign on your forehead that says "LOSER"!!! See you there!
Lens and Lights
Well, here we are again. Hey, two in a row, not bad... So far the year is running smoothly. Let's keep it up. This has been a pretty slow week for the club, and yet a very busy one for me. Thanks to Steve and all the people who helped fix some of the broken equipment. Maybe someday it will all be working again (Ha!). Upcoming we have the movie as well as New Voices 27/2. Help set up for New Voices if you can. Phil and Steve can use all the help they can get. Just show up to Alden and I'm sure that they can find something for you to do. Anyway, that about wraps up this issue. Remember, meetings are now once again Wednesdays at 4:30 in Atwater Kent 232. The exec. meetings are Mondays at 4:30 in Beckett Conference Room (Located in Fuller Labs, directly in front of you as you walk in on the second floor), and they are open to anyone who wishes to see how the club really operates. Thanks for your time!
Masque
That proverbial snowball is beginning to roll. This Friday, Sept. 22 at 7pm in Alden Hall, comes New Voices 27/2. Four plays that are so great, they needed an encore! Next week bring your Shakespearean scenes and talent for the auditions for Henry V. Auditions will be held in the Green Room behind Alden stage. Times are:
Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2-4pm & 6-9pm
Thursday, Sept. 28, 6-9pm
Friday, Sept. 29, Call backs as scheduled.
All audition pieces must come from Shakespearean sources other than from Henry V! Come one, come all there are over 40 roles to be filled! Learn Improvisational Theatre with Endangered Species. There will be a two day workshop Sat. & Sun. Sept 23&24, 2-5pm in the Alden Green Room. It's going to be loads of fun, so be sure to save your space by emailing wildman@wpi. And, of course, Masque meeting Friday at 4:30pm in the Green Room. ALL are welcome!
Men's Crew
Hey, WPI! This is the first installment of the club corner for Men's crew. For those of you who don't know what crew is, the sport consists of rowing 70ft long, 2ft wide boats in races that can be anywhere from 3+ miles to 2000 meters in length. In the boat, there are 8 rowers, and a coxswain, who steers the boat and acts as a coach and cheerleader, all rolled into one. We at WPI crew row in some very competative races against schools like Harvard, MIT, Syracuse, and Boston College. In fact WPI rows on one of the best lakes for rowing in the world (Lake Quinsigamond), so the big names usually come to us just to row on our lake. Many people who have never rowed before become excited about the sport, and I encourage everyone to try it. If anyone is interested in rowing (any male) or coxing (anyone weighing under 125lbs) e-mail mcrew@wpi.edu or check out our homepage at http://www.wpi.edu/~mcrew
Newman Club
The Newman Club had a very successful Pasta and Film night with about forty members attending. Our Chef, John Digiacomo, bared everyone (including the clergy) from the kitchen as he made his Italian sauce so that no one would be able to get his recipe. However all admitted that the secret sauce was excellent- almost as good as the video "Sleepless In Seattle". So a good time was had by all. On Saturday, Sept 16, the club went apple picking and everyone is grateful to Roger Roy and Becky Prince for arranging the trip. Our next activity is a tie-dyed Tee shirt affair which will begin after the 11:30 AM Mass on Sunday, Sept. 24th. We are all hoping that Jim Pavlat and Ryan Abraham know what they are doing as they are in charge of this event. One of them better tell Fr. S. what this is all about as he has never attended this kind of event. In any event we will assign Father to be in charge of the cookout that day. All are invited to come and see who does the better job, Jim, Ryan or Father. It should be fun. Maybe some of you freshmen should sign up to be the judges. Freshmen - Father's famous freshmen suppers are about to begins ,so watch your mailbox for an invitation. To give him credit, it is as good as DAKA -maybe better.
Pre-law Society
Hi All! The Pre-law Society has already had its first meeting of the year, and we've already started planning activities for the upcoming terms. If you missed the first meeting, don't worry, there will be another one this Wednesday (September 20) at 4:30pm in the conference room in the Social Science Department. The Pre-law Society is for anyone who is interested in the study of law, especially those thinking of going to law school after WPI. See you at the meeting!
Ski Club
Hey: Welcome the fall, in just a few months it will be winter. Even sooner, many easter ski areas will be opening. We here at the WPI coed ski team can't wait for it to come. And to get ready for the new season ahead, we've planned a few events for anyone who is interested in joining the team.
First off, on the weekend of the 23, we are having a car wash down at the Mobil station(past Stoddard). This is a great way to help raise the team some money, as well as meet members of our team. Also our dryland practices are starting on Thurs. Sept 20. The are going to be at 4:30 in Harrington. They last about 45 min and are not bad at all. So come on down and think snow.
Society for Medieval Arts and Sciences
Well, another week over. Lessee what's on the agenda.... First things first. If people don't pay me, we can't get the discount rate for King Richard's Faire. I need 25 people to pay me, because, as I said earlier over e-mail, I haven't got the $$ to do it like we did last year. Unless you guys and gals tell me that you have $12 and would like a ticket, then I'm going to have to call the KRF people and tell them that we can't make the discount this year.
Next things next. There are two (2) events in the next few weeks that you are encouraged to go to. Jared has sent out all the information on Death Bunnies and Under a Full Moon. I have been asked to remind you to PRE-REGISTER for Full Moon before the 24th, when the price is $20, and after that, the price will be $25. This event is the weekend of October 7 and 8. There will be a feast Saturday night, and breakfast will be served the next morning. The event site is in Paxton, MA, not too far away. The Reading of the Rules will be at 12:30 on Saturday; the event opens for NPC's at 11.
Practices are, as always, at 7:30 on Mondays and Thursdays. Waivers are now necessary, and going to practice as much as possible is really encouraged!
Society of Women Engineers
Okay, here goes...the first meeting of A-term will be held on Thursday, September 21 @ 7:30pm in SL104. ANYONE who's interested in joining a professional society or finding out what SWE's all about is welcome to attend. We've had a couple of administrative changes going on in the past couple of weeks, so this year should be pretty interesting. We have a lot of topics to discuss, including membership, the Girl Scout Day, t-shirts and candy, the overnight at the museum, the mentoring program, etc. We need your input and ideas, so come and share them at the first meeting!
Women's Tennis
Hello tennis godesses! In honor of my past week's experience with guys, as well as conversations with MJ in Philosophy class, I thought I'd give a top ten list of why tennis is better than men: 1 Your opponent won't wake you up at 2 AM while he's drunk wanting to play (sound familiar Shelly?) 2 A tennis ball doesn't get mad when you hit it too hard. 3 Some racquet covers come equipped with condoms, so you're sure to always be protected. 4 Love is always said in a match, something which is never said by a guy. 5 Gifts are given before a match (psyche boxes), something which is never guaranteed by a guy. 6 Racquets won't get jealous if you want to play with other ones. 7 When tennis balls get flat, you throw them out and get new ones. 8 You can yell as loud as you want without the people in the next court getting mad. 9 Faults are given when one steps out of line. 10 You get to stop for a water break! Our match with UMass wasn't that successful, but quoting the coach "As long as you had fun, it's ok." Tips for our upcoming match: Scream the score as loud as you can Michelle; don't whiff MJ; try to hit the ball, not get hit by the ball Alyson; don't hit your partner in doubles Jenn; serve it down the crack Jess; lastly, keep the fans coming Corinne. Good luck today, and remember, always smile at your opponent during the match. It will annoy the hell out of them, which might win you a few points!
