Kudos to the editorial page. Although I have had my shares of problems with Plant Services, I agree with the Editor. Plant Services doesn't get enough recognition for what they do around here. Since I have been here, they have always been friendly to me and I've never heard of a complaint about how they acted. They do a good job most of the time, unfortunately, it is true that they also screw up sometimes. But, most of the time, all you here about is the screwups. I'm glad to see someone recognizing their good work, too. That being said, I now hope that in the future, if I do criticize them, they will take it for the constructive criticism that I mean it to be.
Next, I have to point out a little irony (I hope Philler is reading this, I know how they love irony. I would just like to point out that they are the ones who inspired me to write this article, so thanx! I needed this). Gompei's put an ad into the paper last week, emphasizing the fact they deliver on campus. But, last night, when, at two different times, we ordered pizza (last night being Friday night) and they said they didn't deliver? I really don't understand. If they're going to advertise it, they should do it. I would just like to point out that I love Gompei's and I love having a pizza, deli, etc... restaurant on campus. And I'm sure that they must have a reason for it. But, like I said, if they are going to advertise it, they should deliver (literally and figuratively...:).
Off to another topic. Specifically the encouragement of pranks. Last year, I got a letter asking me to sign a petition to disband SGA. I thought it was a great prank. Unfortunately, SGA decided to ask whoever was doing it, to stop and to come forward and explain what his beef was. Now, I can understand their being upset, but they took it way too negatively. I happen to know who did it, and I know why he did it. He did it as a prank! Nothing more. So, some of the comments he received from SGA were definitely uncalled for. Anyways, that's my two cents on pranks.
Oh, BTW, I'm not trying to discourage pranks. Like I said, I thought that one was great! I'm just trying to point out to those of you in "power," to lighten up! Learn to laugh at yourselves!
And, because I've always wanted to talk about it, the "Campus Community." Personally, I think that we have a great community and that there is something for everyone. Like someone said in the Letter to the Editor, I don't know anyone who is not involved in something somewhere. I just want to say that I agree with him in that people should stop trying to tell other people that they are not involved if they are not involved with SGA or with such and such, or whatever. I have no problem with them trying to recruit others, but stop putting such a negative spin on things. Try to point out the positive points to being involved. Stop pressuring people to join your group using the reason that if they don't, then they are not involved, or they don't care enough to do anything. They probably do, they just want to do it some other way. Tolerance is a wonderful thing.
Oh, and because I believe in it, BUILD A CAMPUS CENTER! Stop B.S.ing us and do it! I've been on this campus for going on five years now and all this time I've heard talk of a campus center. Yet, I've never seen one! I realize that I will never see one, but come on. It's time to start! Get it out of committee or wherever it is and do it!
