Search for Provost now underway

The Provost Search Committee is now welcoming applications from WPI faculty members for the position of Associate Provost for Academic Affairs. This position incorporates the duties formerly fulfilled by the Dean of Undergraduate Studies and the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research. The position of Associate Provost for Academic Affairs provides crucial intellectual, pedagogical, and administrative leadership. Thus the committee wishes to encourage all members of the WPI community to urge those faculty whom they believe would excel at this position to apply.

The search will be an internal search. After a sufficient number of highly qualified candidates have been identified, the committee will arrange opportunities for the candidates to present their views on academic leadership to the community. They will then solicit community reaction and formulate our recommendations on the appointment.

Applicants should submit a statement of interest together with a vita and whatever other supporting materials they wish the committee to consider to Professor James Hanlan, Search Committee Chair, Humanities & Arts Department. Applications should be submitted no later than Friday, November 17.

Members of the Search Committee include Professor Ronald Biederman, ME; Registrar Kari Blinn; Vice President Bernard Brown; Greg Findlen, Class of '96; Professor James Hanlan, HU (Chair); Greg Shearman, ME Graduate Student, Professor Richard Vaz, ECE; Professor Pamela Weathers, BB.
