At a time when college students are routinely criticized for alleged apathy and an unwillingness to contribute to the community, I write to commend the ATO fraternity for their recent volunteer work on behalf of the Friends of the Worcester Public Library. On October 26 and 28, nearly a dozen members of ATO took time out from their busy schedules to help make the book sale sponsored by the Friends of the Library a success.
Fellow volunteers and the Worcester public were very impressed by the hard work and good humor demonstrated by the ATO members. They represented WPI very well. I would particularly like to thank Jeff Cohen and Brian Beaton for their organizational efforts, Peter Manolakos, Keith Turi, Jim Keevan, Jay Gajewski, and Dan Hebert for their help moving books on Thursday, October 26.
Unfortunately, I did not get the names of the ATO members who helped out on October 28, and many of them left without taking their free books and records. Regardless, the Friends of the Worcester Public Library have decided to make members of ATO honorary members of the Friends of the Worcester Public Library.
