Smackmelon and Phineas Gage
Smackmelon will be performing tonight at 7:30 in Riley Commons. Smackmelon combines rich melodic guitar textures, earnest, intelligent vocals, and blasts of noisy feedback to produce scrumptuous auditory sensations. Their first full-length release is Blue Hour, an album containing music which doesn't invite easy categorization. Smackmelon brings sophistication to raw guitar-powered rock, merging each member's formidable music background in cellos, tumpets, and reggae to form a cataclysmic new sound.
Opening for Smackmelon is Phineas Gage, a unique band combining funk, rock, and the blues. Phineas Gage was formed at Westfield State College in Massachusetts. They have opened for many national acts, including Letters to Cleo, Dead Eye Dick, Digible Planets, and Chucklehead.
Smackmelon with Phineas Gage is brought to you by the WPI Social Committee. Admission is $2.00 for WPI students, $5.00 general. For more information, call the WPI Social Committee at 831-5509.
