Big Character has been together since June of 1994 and has been playing the Boston Club Scene ever since.
The band features two WPI alumni in Noel Christopher and Brian Chu. Both share lead vocals and add harmonies to each others' lead. Noel plays rhythm guitar also while Chu adds the piano and synthesizer sounds.
Both Noel and Chu graduated with the WPI class of '92.
Big Character was helped in the first round by good crowd support. "Since two of us went to school at WPI and I am originally from Shrewsbury, we do well in Worcester even though we're based in Boston", says Noel.
The Semi-finals will be held on Thursday, December 7th at 9:30 pm.
In addition to the battle of the band, Big Character has released their debut CD - Guns, Wedding Gowns, Cold Beer. Mama Kin, the Lansdowne Street club owned by members of Aerosmith, described Big Character in their monthly magazine as "...Grassroots sound with strong emotional lyrics as well a heavy edge..."
