Diversity: are we all that or are we bluffing? (Part III)

by Carlos Zapata - Associate Editor

In the first two parts of the series two very controversial issues were touched upon. Issues that we somehow try to avoid as much as possible because we haven't still learned how to deal with them comfortably. To try to overlook the necessity to grow more open minded would be a grave mistake. It is not necessary to give up one's own values in order to acknowledge or understand other people's opinions, ideas, preferences or values. All you need to know is how to be willing to do so.

The chance that we will ever learn to overlook our differences is very narrow but that does not mean that we can't learn to live comfortably with them.

Thanks to all the department heads and resident advisors who contributed to this issue.
