Murdock swims to a new record

WPI sophomore Jamie Murdock has qualified for the New England Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, which will be held at Wesleyan University March 1-3. Although he's never swum the distance before, Murdock not only qualified in the 1,000-yard freestyle event, he set the school record for that distance - the original record was set the year he was born. Murdock, a mechanical engineering major, lettered in cross country, swimming and track at Redmond High School in Woodinville, Wash., before making his mark at the Institute.
