Pahlavan elected IEEE Fellow

Kaveh Pahlavan, professor of electrical and computer engineering, was recently elected a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Pahlavan was chosen "for contributions to data communication with particular emphasis on wireless office information networks." Fellow is the IEEE's highest grade of membership.

Pahlavan, who joined the faculty in 1985, earned his master's degree from the University of Tehran and his doctorate at WPI. He is the current Weston Hadden Professor of Electrical Engineering, the founder and director of the Institute's Center for Wireless Information Studies (CWINS), and the director of the Wireless LAN Research Labs (WLRL), an industry-sponsored organization that focuses on the potential of the rapidly emerging wireless-LAN field.
