- Magic Johnson scored 19 points against the Warriors in his comeback game, to lead the Lakers to victory.

College Basketball
- No. 4 UConn widened its school-record winning streak to 19 defeating Rutgers 77-59. Ray Allen and Doron Sheffer each had 25 points.
- Providence beat No. 21 Boston College 76-75, Danya Abrams had 23 points.
- UMass remains perfect in their season maintaining the No. 1 spot in the AP poll.

- Boris Becker won the Australian Open outlasting Michael Chang 6-2, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.
- The Seattle Seahawks rumored to be moving to Los Angeles next season.
