Skull taps thirteen promising new candidates

Skull, the organization founded in 1911 to honor administrators, faculty, staff, and students for their contributions to the advancement and betterment of the university, recently tapped thirteen new candidates. Those candidates are:

Professor Robert Labonte', WPI class of '54, of Shrewsbury, MA, is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. As a student, Labonte' was an officer of Theta Kappa Phi fraternity (now Phi Kappa Theta), a member of Pi Delta Epsilon, editor for the Tech News, and a member of the lacrosse team. As a member of the faculty, he is involved on the ECE Project Committee, ECE Undergraduate Program Committee, and was involved in the recent Space Shuttle Project.

Raymond Banks, a mechanical engineering student with biomedical interests from Nashua, NH. He has been an orientation leader, is a member of the basketball team, the rush chair of Phi Gamma Delta, and involved in the Big Brother/Big Sister program.

Laura Bielitz, a mechanical engineering student from Agawam, MA. She is captain of the women's soccer team, a member of the softball team, a former orientation leader and current orientation assistant, a member of the women's mentoring program and of Phi Sigma Sigma sorority, and scholarship chair for the PanHellenic Council.

Kevin Doherty, an electrical engineering student from New Castle, NH. He is an Orientation Leader, former rush chair for the Interfratenity Council, member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and the Naval ROTC program, a former resident advisor, and a member of the lacrosse team.

Matthew Dowling, a biology/biotechnology major from Nevada City, CA. He is a member of Alpha Psi Omega, Tau Beta Pi, and Mu Sigma Delta honor societies, a member of Masque, former rush chair and current Pylortes of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, and member of the social committee.

Francesca Escoto, a management engineering major from Lawrence, MA. She has been an assistant summer coordinator and mentor program coordinator for EMSEP, outreach coordinator for the Society of Women Engineers, secretary for Alden Voices, a member of the Hispanic Student Association, president, New England representative, and regional secretary for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, a member of the Student Alumni Society, Masque, Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, and a Resident Advisor.

Deborah Foley, a management engineering student from Tewksbury, MA. She is vice president of the Newman Club, new member coordinator for Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, member of the Student Alumni Society, Society of Women Engineers, Institute of Industrial Engineers, the Management Society, and the goat committee of the class of 1997, and she is a member of the Epsilon Upsilon Pi honor society.

Brian Learned, a mechanical engineering student from Clinton, MA. He is a representative of GAMMA, vice president of recruitment for Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, captain of the football team, and a member of the rugby team.

Jodi Mazzarino, a civil engineering student from Danvers MA. She is a committee head for the American Society of Civil Engineers, commitee head and pledge trainer for Alpha Phi Omega, member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, and a member of Bacchus.

Jimmy Pai, a computer science student from Honolulu, HI. He is the chairperson for the International Student Council, member and newsletter editor for the Chinese Student Association, and member of the Asian Society Club.

Myles Walton, a mechanical engineering with aerospace intentions major from Marlboro, MA. He is the Philanthropy chair for Theta Chi fraternity, member of the WPI Stage Ensemble and Concert bands, member of the Tau Beta Pi honor society, goat keeper for the class of 1997, member of the ultimate frisbee team, and student hall director for Founders Hall.

Sarah Wilcox, a civil engineering major from Wakefield, MA. She is a member of the women's crew team, committee head for the American Society of Civil Engineers, committee head and service vice president for Alpha Phi Omega, and a resident advisor.

Bernardo Vasquez, a computer science student from New York City, NY. He is the co-founder and communications officer of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers on this campus, a member of the National Society of Black Engineers, the Black Student Union, and the Hispanic Student Association, EMSEP cordinator, instructor, and mentor, and a tutor and resident advisor for the Strive program.
