Grebinar wrestling hall of famer
WPI wrestling coach Phil Grebinar has been inducted into the Massachusetts Interscholastic Wrestling Association Hall of Fame. A wrestling coach, official and supporter since 1973, Grebinar was commissioner of the New England Intercollegiate Wrestling Officials from 1980 to 1984, a rules interpreter for the Massachusetts State High School Officials (president from 1980-82), the Massachusetts Wrestling Federation's Man of the Year in 1982, and U.S. Wrestling's Referee of the Year for 1985-86.
Grebinar guided WPI's wrestling team to New England College Conference Wrestling Association titles in 1985, 1987, 1994, and 1995 and was the association's Coach of the Year in 1985, 1987 and 1994. The Engineers recently completed their 20th consecutive winning season under the leadership of Grebinar, who owns a lifetime record of 323-86-4.
