Next up, Service, the Dance-a-thon (which made a lot of money) and the Blood Drive were smashing hits, but there is still stuff left. Mustard Seed is still going on. on the 20th is Worcester Park Clean-Up, we will be going to the Worcester Home for Veterans on April 21 to do stuff, and Earth Day is April 28th, so we should be doing something then. For more information, find and bug Smiley.
Fellowship has stuff going on. To find out, bug Brian.
Anyways, Brother Meeting, Monday, 6:30PM, GH227
Anyways, a quick updates of what will happen this week. First is the ISC Cultural Fest (the greatest and most traditional event in ISC history..that's what ISC's homepage says..). So go check it out this Saturday from 9am to 2pm at Harrignton Gym. It should be fun with all the performances and exhibits (including CSA's).
Second, Sports Time! Our Floor Hockey Team (1-2) and Soccer Team (2-2) are both showing sign of improvement from last season (ok ok..it doesnt show on our records, but they are better..ok?!?!) Floor Hockey had a game last week where they lost to "People" by the score of 2:0. It was the first time our dear Zung-uncle played as a goalie and could have pulled a shutout if it had gotten more help from or defense. For our Soccer team, it went 1-1 last week. This might be the best team CSA ever assemble. It is lead by our new VP Charlie and new SC Eric T. with Easter Bunnies-> Eric L., Vince S., Zung N., Mike S.<- and Energizer Bunnies->Nick L., Leo L., Mike C., Manny L., and Homey<-. They keep playing better and better each week, so dont miss their last regular season game next Tuesday at 10pm!. As for this week, the only game will be..tonigh!! at 7pm.. floor hockey in Alumni Gym. Go support our CSA team!
Well, That's all, folks for now. Good luck to ya all in the mid-terms!
Come and join us for our time of fellowship on friday evening. It will be at 7:00 in Morgan A. This is a refreshing time of praise and thanksgiving and learning. Also, on Saturday morning, around 10:30 many will be coming together to play some sort of a sport. Join in.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV). My brothers and sisters, this is a promise from the Lord. This is no small thing. It is huge, and furthermore, we can be assured that it is a promise that will not be broken. So, that leaves the question of what does it mean? To me, it says something along the following: If I don't let myself become worried over my desires, but rather continually present them to God to take care of, He will do more than just take care of them, He will protect me from this world through his son, Jesus. If I give everything over to God, not only do I keep it, but I get unimaginably more in return. Wow.
It's been a busy year and it's far from over... Rehearsal tonight, preceeded by a joint meeting of old/new officers for the (ceremonial) passing of the torch. We've got to get ready for ACAPPELLAFEST II, this Saturday in Riley Commons. We expect a sellout crowd, so get your tickets today, on sale in the mail room. Sunday we have a concert with Wells in Alden (4 pm), Wheeler gets his first shot at getting us on and off the stage. Other than that, heck, I don't know, I've only been an officer for 3 days now. Read the memo!
At the meeting the CSA(Chinese Student Association) announced that it had elected a new president, the Asian Society, the Japan Association, and the Muslim Student Organization said that they will hold elections, soon, if not by the end of the week. A decision on the ISC sponsored volleyball tournament was also reached. The tournament will consist of at least 8 teams, each team will have eight players, and a participation fee of $8.00 is expected. The tournament will be held on Saturday, April 27th. Anyone that wishes to participate should e-mail Ykiko at yukis@wpi.
The ISC announced that it will be holding its elections on Wednesday, April 17th. All three officers' positions are open, and anyone wishing to run for a post should come to the ISC meeting scheduled for that date. An election barbecue will also be held on a weekend after the elections.
The final announcement was about the 10th annual Cultural Festival the ISC is sponsoring on Saturday, 13 April. The event will be held at Harrington Auditorium between 10:30am and 3:00pm, entrance is free and food sampling coupons, priced 50cents each. More than eight countries will be represented at the festival, which will include live performances and food samplings.
The last action taken at the meeting involved the ISC giving its support to a petition regarding financial aid for international students. To find out more contact the ISC at isc@wpi.edu, Jason at jasonp@wpi.edu or at ext. 6311.
On the same note, we will have new hang points! Yeah! They are larger than the otehrs, and closer to the stage. Thank you Susan. You will also get to see some of our new stuff during New Voices if you help, or come to the show, so show up! On Tues. night and Wed. afternoon, Chris can use help moving his stuff from the floor to the stage. ANyone who can help would be most appreciated.
I think that is all for this week. I made it through one more. I hope this insane trend doesn't continue. If anyone notices me trying to do about 14 things at the same time, smack me. I really need to learn my limits. See you all either in Forkey on Mon. or AK 233 on Wed., both at 4:30.
Keep the sanity...
-Jed
Interested mentors, please email Wendy your summer addresses soon so she that she can keep you informed while school is out. Also, we are still looking for more members to represent SWE at the Activities Fair on April 17th in the Harrington Gymnasium from 12:15 to 1:30. Let Wendy know if you are interested. Finally, there is a great opportunity to travel to Portland, OR over the summer for the SWE National Convention. If anyone is free from June 25th through the 29th, and would like to represent SWE, email swe@wpi.
