Host families wanted for Russian musicians
From April 27-29, WPI will host a piano competition in Alden Memorial. Eight students from the music school in Pushkin, Russia, will take part in the competition, along with piano students from throughout the Northeast. Administrator of Applied Music Douglas Weeks, who is coordinating the competition, is looking for individuals willing to host one or two of the students during their stay in Worcester from about April 22 to May 2. Each host would be responsible for providing housing, meals, and transportation.
"WPI students have performed at this school twice, once in 1990 and again this past March while they were on tour in Russia," said Weeks. "Both times, the people in Pushkin made our students feel welcome. We hope people from our community will reach out and do the same for the Russian visitors."
