USML-2 Crew Visits Campus
On Wednesday, April 10, the astronauts of the STS-73 mission, of which the second United States Miscogravity Laboratory (USML-2) was the main part, visited Worcester Polytechnic Institute for the first-ever mission debriefing at a college. The crew included Professor Albert Sacco, Jr., department head of the Chemical and Chemical Engineering department, whose responsibilities as a payload specialist on USML-2 ran the gamut of experiments brought on the mission, especially growing zeolite crystals in microgravity. Sacco, along with the other talented astronauts of the STS-73 mission, delighted the WPI community and guests last week as they spoke about their experiences and shared their thoughts.
Newspeak takes this opportunity to present the community with the following section on the astronauts' visit.
