Did you know:
With a faculty of four teachers, WPI (then called The Worcester County Gree Institute of Industrial Science) opened its doors on Tuesday, November 10, 1868. Boynton Hall was then dedicated on the very next day. A total of thirty-two students were enrolled. Tuition was free for residents of Worcester County while sixty dollars per year was charged to all others. How times do change!
Question of the week:
Institute Road was not always called Institute Road. In an effort to extend the school's influence in the community, Stephen Salisbury III arranged for the renaming of the road that we now know as Institute Road. What was this road previously called?
