Club Corner

APO

Hello Olsters! Congrats to the new pledges! We hope you have a fun time and get to know all of the brothers.

This week the Ugly Man on Campus event will surely get rid of your C Term blues as you laugh at the ugly men at WPI! This week you can vote for who you think is the ugliest man on campus. Be sure to come down and check it out.

Wednesday night is Movie night! Bring your favorite movie so Elena doesn't have to watch the Transformers. We are going Ice Skating Saturday, and I'm sure there will be plenty of people going to see Romeo and Juliet Sunday. The Formal Committee is still planning the APO formal, so stay tuned for more information on that.

Conclave is coming up in April. The cost is about $25, and pledges are encouraged to attend. More information will be provided at the brother meeting, which is held Mondays at 6:30 in GH227.

BiLaGa

We did lunch last week. Thanks to everyone who came and hung out with us...the non-traditional meeting times seem to be working out really well. Some of the officers went to Brandeis this weekend for a conference and picked up some literature to supplement our "library" located at Health Services. Feel free to sign out the books and pamphlets at your convenience and learn more about the subjects that are of interest to us.

This week we have a meeting scheduled for Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Anybody interested in showing their support (regardless of personal sexual orientation) should e-mail bilaga@wpi.edu to find out where we meet. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. Come see what we're all about...it's probably a lot different from what you are currently thinking. Still for sale are T-shirts ($3) and freedom rings ($5). Again, just e-mail us and we can sell you those items. Look for future announcements of this term's open meeting. And if you want more information about anything that the club is involved in, check out our web site at: http://www.wpi.edu/~bilaga

Christian Bible Fellowship

Greetings once again, CBF! This is an awesome time, God is working in our lives everywhere and is answering prayers in ways we could never have imagined.

Bring more of your prayers before the Lord with your brothers and sisters at Friday Night Fellowship, 7:00 PM in the Lower Wedge. Then come out for Saturday Morning Sports at 10:30am in Alumni.

"Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: 'If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?'" Mark 8:34-36 (NIV).

In these verses, Jesus tells us the secret to living a truly successful life and ensuring our salvation. First, we must deny ourselves. This means giving up all of the ambitions and desires we have for our lives. Then we must take up our cross and follow Him. Only by placing our entire trust and faith in Christ can we save our lives.

Now I ask you, have you given up everything for Christ? Maybe there's a few strings attached to your cross and holding you back from following Him. Don't settle for that kind of walk with God. Separate yourselves from the ties that bind you to your old selves and live a life free from the desires and ambitions of the world.

Men's Glee Club

Hello, Fratres in Cantu! 17 Days and counting until we leave the bitter cold of New England for the equally cold (and damp!) England! I hope you all are looking forward to it as much as I am (especially those under 21!) Don't forget to get your student ID's. For those who have never traveled with the club before (which is most of you), let me give you a bit of warning... Hell hath no fury like Louis the week before tour. Especially if he has to drive you to Boston three days before we leave so you can get your passport... consider yourselves warned. Now, since this is being written on (black) Friday, and because it won't be printed until after the weekend, I feel it is my duty to make a few predictions. During this weekend, 1) Jay won't work on his questionaire. 2) Hamel will wake up to find something warm lying next to him. He will be relieved to find out that it is only his liver taking a vacation. 3) Alan will discover the joys of having a bedroom door. 4) Someone in SHM will get propositioned by a lady old enough to be their grandmother. 5) Spaleta will be drinking beer in Budapest and thanking God that the sources of his sexual frustration are thousands of miles away. 6) Darren and Glenn will sit in front of a computer once (they just won't leave). 7) Gabe will sleep (maybe). Have a good week!!!

Newman Club

Well lent got off to a great start as we had great attendance at Ash Wednesday Masses and other Lenten Masses. Keep up the good work, gang. This Friday night we are going to Sacred Heart Bingo, so if you are coming, meet at the Religious Center at 6:00 pm. Ryan tells us that he is an expert in bingo and will show you how to play. Save the date of Friday, Feb. 28th as we have a video and pasta that night. Jason Nadeau is going to make sure Fr. S. cooks enough food this time. The nomination committee has selected their candidates for next year's officers . However any member can be nominated by the membership by sending a petition to Ryan Abraham or Erin Smith. Said petition must have at least ten signatures of present members. Elections will be Sunday, March 2nd, at all the Masses. If you wish to be considered for a Eucharistic Minister, send e-mail to priest@wpi.edu and let Fr. S. know about your application. Don't forget that during Lent the Club sponsors Mass every night at 10:00 pm except Friday when it is at 12:00 (noon). Weekday Masses are held in the Religious Center. Hope to see you there.

Railroad Club

Wow! A Club Corner by the Railroad Club! Hopefully by the end of the week we'll know the results of the Great Room Search, and even more hopefully, we'll have a lead on a home for our modules and other assorted model railroad things. In other news, the wiring is coming along; another trip to Radio Shack is probably on the horizon. Don't worry, Tom- we'll be out of your living room in less time than it takes to skin a rabbit.

Prototypically speaking, Dave, our contact at URI, has found out that Conrail and Guilford have recently launched a trailer-van program from Worcester to Waterville, Maine and back. The new trains are numbered TV-97 and 96; westbound and eastbound, respectively. Most significantly, the new trains are headed up by B&M/ST power all the way into Worcester, with crew changes at Ayer. This will be the first time in quite a while that Guilford power has come into Worcester on a regular basis. The new trains are reportedly running Monday through Saturday, so listen to your scanners and we'll organize a trip sometime soon.

Anyone interested in joining the Club is welcome to join us at one of the weekly meetings which are being held at 5 Dean Street, Apartment #2. For more information, contact railroad@wpi.edu or ecwilcom@wpi.edu.

Science Fiction Society

Well gentlebeings, it's been quite a week! The trip to the Jersey Dairy Farms went off without a hitch. Three hours either way packed into the Magic Club Bus like lemmings, but what neat souvenirs! We finally got the leather seat covers!! Never wanted to know so much about cheese did you? We had to write a formal appology after the incident (you all know what I'm talking about), but Joe wasn't hurt too badly and 500 gallons of milk don't cost that much at bulk prices. Purina DOESN'T make dinosaur chow. (Moo?) Next months' trip is being planned already and hopefully it won't contain so much calcium.

So what do Rand al Thor, Superman, Paul Mua'dib, Jason Worthing, and Pug of Stardock all have in common with each other but not with you? ... They all have women. Yes, yes, I know, Aside from being imaginary people... or being able to use magic or amazing powers of the mind...

(This week has not been condusive to sleep). Come to this week's SFS meeting and learn the secrets man was not meant to know!! (Ok, ok, woman was not meant to know either, why are you always going on about women Stan?) (You can't have babies, you haven't got a womb! Where's the fetus gonna gestate? You gonna keep it in a box?)

Be there at 7pm on Wednesday in Olin Hall room 223, as we symolize our struggle against oppression... er, reality. And Bob, They're all white and they're all named Kevin!

Simple Harmonic Motion

It's been a long week for SHM, but now that we have some performances coming up, things will definately start moving quicker. On a personal note, on behalf of SHM I would like to thank Dribble and Beaker for doing a great job in bringing this group to where it is. Even though we don't say it too often, we really do appreciate it. I feel it is appropriate at this time to also thank Alden Voices for all their support. We hope you appreciated your candygrams. Trent Reznor said it best when he said "Happiness in Slavery!" I hope you are all excited about Regis (take that how you wish). Good thing Jay was there Saturday since Jon was out of town and Driscoll was closer to a Baritone... how *was* your Valentine's day, Mike? We hope that all our fans are able to make it to the Clark Counterpoints' Jamboozle III this Friday 7:00 at Clark. POMF.
