The Worcester IceCats finished up their regular season home games this weekend. Saturday's match up was against the Providence Bruins at Worcester's Centrum Centre. The Cats had been in Providence the night before where they dealt a 3-2 loss to the Baby B's. IceCat rookie goalie Travis Scott made a 64 save performance in the game which set a new all time IceCat record.

Prior to Saturday's game the annual IceCats players awards were announced. Bob Lachance was named IceCat Rookie of the year for his performances, he leads the team in assists and points and is one of the leading rookies in the league. Chris Kenady was awarded with the MVP award and Terry Virtue was honored with the Cat of the Year award. Other players who received awards were: David Williams, Travis Scott, Rory Fitzpatrick, Justin Hocking, and Jamie McLennan.

The game was a defensive battle between the two teams with IceCat Mike Buzak in the net while Derek Herlofsky was in the opposite goal. The game was looking good for the IceCats through two periods for they had made 30 shots to the Bruins' 10. However the Cats just weren't making things happen and that caught up with them in the third period. At 11:19 Bruin Todd Elik defeated Mike Buzak with assists from Ken McRae and Anders Myrvold. A victory would have given the Cats their first ever New England Division regular season championship, but they were unable to light the red lamp failing to convert on seven power plays.

The IceCats have three more games to play on the road before closing out the regular season on Tuesday the 15th in Providence. They play in Springfield on Friday 11th and visit Baltimore on Sunday the 13th. The IceCats then begin their quest to bring the Calder Cup to Worcester.
