Campus Radio has new studio, extended programming

by Jony Laplante - WWPI Secretary

The campus radio station was once WPIR. Now, as you may know, it is WWPI. Sure, maybe it sounds a little like some cheesy wrestling league, but you'll get used to it. What you may not know is all the other changes that have been going on at WWPI, the only station that really clocks.

First and foremost, the station is no longer in the basement of Fuller Labs. It can now be found in the sub-basement, almost directly below where it used to be. The new studio is much bigger than the old one. Campus radio is in the process of finishing a grand production studio, which will be fully operational by A-term next year. The new broadcast studio has a security camera set up, and the new console complies with all FAA (yes, FAA) standards. The studio also has a lounge, with a couch and some chairs, and a receiver to listen to the station. Stop by and check it out!

Over the past year, through the hard work of the WWPI exec board and all of the great DJs, campus radio has now been on the air more often than in the past two years. WWPI now has morning programming, and programming runs from most of the day into the night. So, if you are walking by a TV in a lounge or a dorm room somewhere on campus, check out WWPI. There's bound to be something you like. It has a little of everything. Plus, over the next couple of weeks, you can get tickets for the Nada Surf show here on campus. Keep you eyes and ears open for that. The DJ schedule can be found on page 8 of today's issue of Newspeak.

If you want a splitter, want to be added to the WWPI mailing list, want to be trained, or have any other questions about your campus radio station, just email radio@wpi.edu
