Each year at the annual conference, the Northeast Interfratenity Conference (NEIFC) recognizes outstanding councils in the region with the presentation of awards. Through this presentation, the NEIFC seeks to encourage Interfratenity Councils to aspire to high standards of excellence in a wide range of activities. All NEIFC members are encourages to apply for awards in one or more Program Categories and for the Lunsford Award. The process of preparing for an awards application in and of itself will assist the council in evaluating its programs and services to member chapters. The submission of an application and supporting documentation gives the council an opportunity to have its various programs evaluated by outside experts who will provide the representatives of the council written and verbal feedback and suggestions at the annual conference. The Lunsford Award: The Lunsford Award is named for Larry Lunsford, the first NEIFC Executive Director. The Lunsford Award may be presented to one council in each division demonstrating excellence in overall operations in each of the eight programming categories. A council wishing to be judged for the Lunsford Award must submit information and documentation in all eight of the programming categories. Individual Programming Excellence Awards: These awards may be presented to councils (in each division) whose applications in a particular programming category indicate outstanding achievement. A council may apply for as many Individual Programming Excellence Awards as the council desires by submitting information in one or more of the eight programming categories. Awards will be presented to all councils that qualify in each programming category.
