It's that time of year again when we start to wonder what will become of ourselves next year. That is, where we're going to live. Never fear! Residential Services is here and the services they provide can help you make sure you're happy with your living situation, whether you plan to live off-campus or you plan to remain within the WPI residence halls.
If you're planning to live off-campus, Residential Services has a host of services available to you, including a special "Renter's Guide", a list of local places available for rent and three Off-Campus Housing information sessions. For more information, contact the office or check-out their website: http://www.wpi.edu/Admin/Depts/RSO.
If you're planning to live on-campus, the housing selection process has already begun. Information sessions are being held and applications for housing may be picked up at the Residential Services office or the Business Affairs office. All applications must be returned with a $100 depsoit to the Business Affairs office no later than 4:30 on Wednesday, February 17th. The deposit will be credited to your WPI account.
Following the return of the application and deposit, each student will receive a computer-generated lottery number in preparation for the two housing selection nights. The first selection night will be for students wishing to live in Ellsworth or Fuller apartments. Lottery numbers will be called in-order, skipping-over applicants who are not present. If a resident does not wish to live in Ellsworth or Fuller, or was not able to acquire housing there, a second selection evening will be held for all other spaces, including those available in Founders Hall. The same set of lottery numbers will be used, beginning from the lowest number available and skipping-over those numbers already placed in Ellsworth and Fuller.
The duel selection night concept is a new concept this year, allowing students to try for an apartment and still have the option to seek off-campus housing or re-arrange roommate situations to fit into a Founders suite if an on-campus apartment is not available to them.
For further information questions, or full details regarding the housing selection process, contact the Residential Services staff or your current Resident Advisor. They will be happy to assist you in any way that they can.
