The bookstore, the mailboxes, Gompei's, the student-run organization offices, and many more services are moving into the new Campus Center. Once all these offices and rooms are cleared out, what exactly is WPI going put in its place?

The main areas being vacated are the basement of Riley Hall and the first floor of Daniels Hall.

According to John Miller, Director of Physical Plant, and a member of the committee that will make the final decision on the vacated space, "At this time, there are not a lot of firm plans." Specifically, in the basement of Riley Hall where presently Gompei's and the Tech News office are located, there are no plans on what will be replacing them.

There is talk about the first floor of Daniels Hall, though. Any offices that provide student services may actually be moving into Daniels. For instance, the Financial Aid Office may be moved to where the mailboxes now are. Other thoughts include moving the duplicating room, the mailing office, and the room where student ID's are made, which are now located on the bottom floor of Boynton Hall. Another option includes moving the Registrar's Office from Boynton Hall to Daniels.

No actual final plans have been made regarding empty space. Therefore, any ideas from the student body are welcome, because this is a brainstorming period. Tech News will keep the community updated on the plans for these soon-to-be-empty spaces as they become finalized.
