SID comes home

Twenty years after completing a five-year stint as the WPI's sports information director, Worcester native Stephen Raczynski is celebrating his own homecoming.

"I'm pleased to return," says Raczynski, who was named WPI's newest SID this fall. After graduating from Assumption College in 1974, Raczynski spent five years at WPI, where he was also the assistant baseball coach under the late Charlie McNulty.

He then moved on to positions as assistant SID at Yale and SID at Princeton. From 1982 to 1996 he was director of sports media relations at Stanford University, where he covered most of Stanford's 33 varsity sports programs and worked with such world-renowned athletes as John Elway, Janet Evans and Tiger Woods.

Before returning to WPI, he was director media relations for the American Baseball League's Hartford-based New England Blizzard.
