Brazilian, Thai Universities hook up with Fire Protection Engineering

hailand and Brazil are separated by distance and culture, yet students in those countries will soon have a common bond. In September, agreements were signed between WPI's Fire Protection Engineering Program and the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil, and with Chulalongkorn University (Chula) in Bangkok, Thailand. Each agreement is based on a belief in the value of cooperation between the two universities. While there are differences in how the new partnerships will be implemented, each aspires to develop fire protection engineering instructional programs where they currently do not exist. Other areas of cooperation envisioned include faculty and student exchanges, research, symposium and fire-oriented theses and undergraduate projects.
