AT&T scholarship reaches out to UPRM graduates

AT&T Wireless Services Puerto Rico recently established a scholarship that will enable an engineering student from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez to pursue a master's degree at WPI.

This first-of-its-kind scholarship will consist of a $15,000 cash award for each of two years; WPI will provide room, board and a stipend. It will be granted to a UPRM senior who has a 3.5 GPA, possesses leadership ability, and has a record of community service. Applicants must be majoring in computer science, electronics, electrical engineering, or any other discipline of central importance to the telecommunications industry. The winner will begin studying at WPI at the start of the 1997-98 academic year.

"We are confident that the student who is selected will benefit greatly from the top-quality programs and the global focus we provide at this university," says WPI President Edward Parrish.
