Shannon caps career with CAC, CoSIDA honors

Basketball player Mike Shannon (above, right) concluded an outstanding senior season by being named Constitution Athletic Conference's Player of the Year and being selected to the CAC's All-Star First Team.

The Engineers' leading scorer this year, Shannon became part of a small group of WPI basketball players to eclipse 500 points for a season; he finished with 514 points and 182 rebounds. He made 69 three-point baskets to establish a new single-season WPI men's record; his 148 career three-pointers put him second all-time on the men's list.

In addition to his superlative on-court season, Shannon's 3.5 GPA put him on the GTE CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-America Second Team and the District I First Team.

Shannon ended his WPI basketball career with 1,065 points, 462 rebounds, 187 assists, 123 steals, and a career free-throw percentage of 71 percent.
