Strauss moves to Harvey Mudd

In March former WPI President Jon C. Strauss became the fourth president of Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, Calif. Established in 1955, HMC is a small (640 students) undergraduate coeducational institution that offers degrees in biology, computer science, chemistry, engineering, mathematics and physics.

Strauss was named WPI's 13th president in 1985, succeeding Edmund T. Cranch. He left in the fall of 1994 to accept the post of vice president and chief financial officer of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Chevy Chase, Md.
