Remembering Adam

The WPI community mourned the loss of Adam El-Khishin '99 in January with a candlelight ceremony, bouquets on the Quad, and a gathering at International House to share reflections on his life. Adam was killed in a car accident on January 17, 2000, while returning to Washington University in St. Louis after a holiday break. The crash, which occurred on an icy highway near Bloomington, Ill., also took the lives of two fellow first-year medical students.

WPI has established the Adam El-Khishin Pre-Health/Pre-Medical Scholarship for an underclassman who reflects the ideals that Adam demonstrated as a student: scholarship, leadership, community service and social responsibility. A campus memorial, in the form of a conversation/ meditation area, will be built near the new campus center. Contributions toward the memorial may be sent to the office of Development and University Relations, payable to WPI–Adam El-Khishin Memorial Fund.
