Natalie A. Mello has been appointed director of global operations. Since joining the Interdisciplinary and Global Studies Division (IGSD) in 1997, Mello has implemented the Global Ambassadors Program, overseen the Global Opportunities Fair, and helped expand participation in the Global Perspective Program. In her new post she is responsible for all global project centers and serves as the IGSD's public information officer.
Sixty percent of the seniors who walked across the stage to collect their diplomas in May spent some time studying off campus -- from Boston to Bangkok, Washington to Melbourne -- to complete their degree requirements. "Of our 625 graduates, we counted 412 off-campus experiences; 47 studied off campus twice," says Mello.
"This year, WPI is sending more than 350 students to global sites. It is tremendously rewarding to be part of such a great experience for the students -- an experience that helps them learn more about their chosen disciplines, about the world they live in and, perhaps most important, about themselves."
