Wilhelmy wins Schwieger Award

The School of Industrial Management recently honored Normand J. Wilhelmy '63 (SIM), president, treasurer and owner of Hobbs Fasteners, Inc. in Worcester, with the 1996 Albert J. Schwieger Award for Outstanding Professional Achievement. Named for the manag ement program's founder, the award is presented at the banquet each spring.

Wilhelmy began his career in manufacturing in the accounting department of St.Pierre Chain Co. He then moved on to Hobbs Manufacturing & Simplatrol Products, where he served for 21 years as office manager, controller and, ultimately, treasurer. Wilhelmy l ater became president and treasurer of Hobbs Williams Corp. of Toronto, where he developed a reputation as a results-oriented senior manager with a distinguished talent for effective management. After 20 years with Hobbs Fasteners, he is credited with bui lding a small cotter-pin manufacturing operation into a solid family business, which continues to evolve and prosper.

Wilhelmy lives in Shrewsbury, Mass., with his wife, Irene.
