Nineteen educators, legislators, business leaders and parents were recently appointed to the Advisory Board of the Massachusetts Academy of Mathematics and Science at Worcester. Education Secretary Michael J. Sentance announced the establishment of the board, which will work with Leah Vetter, director of the academy, to generate support for the school.
Sentance is joined on the board by Education Commissioner Robert Antonucci. WPI President Edward A. Parrish, Board of Trustees Chair John M. Nelson, Trustee M Howard Jacobson and Assistant Provost Lance Schachterle were also appointed to the board.
"The academy exemplifies a highly successful public-private partnership between the commonwealth and WPI," says Sentance. "The Advisory Board will be an excellent vehicle for fostering new ideas and continuing to build upon its success."
