WPI to Host Materials Science Camp for High School Students
Approximately 67 students from 11 high schools across New England will attend the 3rd annual ASM Materials Camp New England on Monday, May 12 at WPI. The camp introduces high school students and teachers to hands-on learning about the role of materials in everyday life.
WPI to Award 1,089 Degrees at 140th Commencement
WPI will award 1,089 degrees at its 140th Commencement exercises on Saturday, May 17, including 738 Bachelor of Science degrees, 333 master's degrees, and 18 Ph.Ds. Jeffrey R. Immelt, chairman and CEO of General Electric Co., will deliver the keynote address, and the university will bestow four honorary degrees. The ceremony begins at 11 a.m., and it will be held on the campus Quadrangle (Harrington Auditorium, in case of rain).
WPI to Host 9th Annual BattleCry Robotics Competition May 9-10
Students from 60 high schools around the Northeast will compete May 9 and 10 in BattleCry@WPI 9, one of the largest robotics contests in New England. The competition, held in WPI's Harrington Auditorium, offers high school FIRST robotics teams the chance to test their skills and technical expertise in postseason competition.
WPI and President Dennis Berkey Receive the Bowditch Award from Worcester Business Development Corp.
WPI and President Dennis Berkey received the Bowditch Award from the Worcester Business Development Corp. at the organiztion's annual meeting on April 23. The award recognized the university and Dr. Berkey's visionary leadership in the development of Gateway Park--in particular, the WPI Life Sciences and Bioengineering Center.
WPI Honors Community Members for Excellence in Teaching, Research, Advising, and Community Service
WPI recognized five WPI faculty members, a staff member, and a graduate student for outstanding research, teaching, advising, and contributions to the community during the annual Honors Convocation.
