Recent interest has been shown in the use of waste vegetable oil as a fuel for diesel engines. Typically only the "home mechanic" studies this and therefore very little academic research has been conducted on the topic. This study tests the effects of the quality of the used oil and the temperature at which it is injected on the performance of a single-cylinder diesel engine. The pre-injection temperature of the oil had a small effect on power output. No correlation could be made between the quality of the oil and the engines performance.
