The Center for International Rehabilitation has developed a lower limb prosthetic (monolimb) for transtibial amputees. This study compares the effects of two prosthetic foot designs on the monolimb. The ICRC SACH foot and Northwestern's Shape and Roll (SR) prosthetic foot were subjected to static physical testing under load conditions seen during walking (ISO 22675). These same conditions were modeled using finite element analysis. These results suggest that under the loading conditions, the Shape and Roll foot causes higher strains in the monolimb than the SACH foot, but does not adversely affect the monolimb.
