Eavesdropping on conversations is difficult due to the attenuation of acoustic waves over long distances. By using surfaces close to an acoustic source as the microphone and detecting changes in those surfaces from a distance, speech can be reproduced accurately. If a reflective surface such as a window were utilized in this manner then a laser and photodetector can be used to measure changes due to acoustic pressure. Our device is intended to detect an audio signal using a laser.
