Within the United States, back pain is the most common work related disorder, as eighty percent of employees in the manufacturing environment will someday experience spinal related injury. Back pain results in unsatisfied employees and loss of profit for the workplace. Through extensive research of the anatomy, physiology, dynamics and biomechanics of the spine, this project explored the various ways to reduce work related injury. A mathematical model was formulated to compute the desired values for the creation of stability indices with particular interest in sitting, standing and walking in the workplace.
