Abstract Modern methods of bloody fingerprint enhancement are difficult to execute due to various complications. The main concern with existing chemical stains is the lack of adhesion to angled surfaces, which obscures ridge detail. The current device for spraying these chemicals also decreases the amount of detail on the stained fingerprint due to low pressure and large droplets. The purposes of this thesis were to: improve the chemical staining by introducing an inert media to increase the viscosity of the chemicals for better adhesion, and to propose a spray device with higher pressure and superior atomization for the resulting product.
