Abstract Since gaining sovereignty, Namibia has been striving for further economic independence by attempting to establish domestic industries that will generate additional revenue for the country. Working in conjunction with our sponsor, the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources of Namibia, we made recommendations for lowering the costs of a land-based kabeljou aquaculture industry. We performed a cost benefit analysis on three major areas of a kabeljou aquaculture industry, which are live feed, inert feed, and fish containment units. Although we were able to recommend methods that would reduce yearly costs by N$ 10.9 million, we concluded that a kabeljou aquaculture industry is still not feasible in Namibia at this time.
