Want to Get a Bound Paper Copy?

WPI does not require a bound copy of your thesis or dissertation, but Gordon Library will arrange binding of your personal copies, at your expense, through a commercial bindery.

Getting Started

If you wish to have your thesis bound, there are a few simple steps to follow:

  1. You must use 8-1/2" x 11" paper.
  2. Use good quality paper. For impressive presentation, the library recommends 20-25% rag content paper. Regular photocopy paper will do if you so desire.
  3. You may usually use the same margins on your ETD and your print copy. However, there should be a one inch margin on the left side of the page of your print copies to accommodate binding.
  4. Page numbers cannot be located within the 1" margin and must be situated in the middle of the top or bottom of the page, or in the upper or lower right-hand corner, not on the left side of the page.

Getting Your Thesis or Dissertation Bound

  1. Bring the printed thesis or dissertation you wish to have bound to Elenore McGourty, Room 310, Gordon Library. Be sure that all pages are right side up and in correct order when delivering your document. The library will not be responsible for correcting the position of pages. Also, please note that the library will not make copies of your thesis. You must make the copies you need and bring them to the library.
  2. Place your order for the bound copies.
  3. Go to Financial Services, 2nd floor, Boynton Hall and pay your binding fees - $30.00 per copy.
  4. You will be notified when to pick up the finished bound copies.

If you have questions about these procedures, please contact Elenore McGourty, mcgourty@wpi.edu.
