Larceny From A Motor Vehicle – This past weekend on 4/20 three motor vehicles parked in the Stoddard Parking lot were broken into.  Stolen from two of the vehicles were a car radio, Pillar gauges and a gauge mount.

Prevention Advice

It is important that anyone parking their vehicle follow a few simple steps which may help reduce the chance of becoming the victim of burglary and theft.

  • Vary your parking space within the parking lot or garage.
  • Ensure windows are up, the vehicle is locked and alarm set, (if equipped) every time you park your vehicle.
  • Stow all removable electronic devices, bags, cases or packages in a trunk, storage compartment, completely out of view or take them with you.

Be alert at all times and report any suspicious persons or activities to the WPI Police Department immediately.

Suspicious Person/Vehicle:  On Monday January 28, 2008 a female reported to the WPI Police the following information - an unknown male stopped his vehicle near the intersection of Institute Road and Park Ave, opened the driver's door and demanded she get into his vehicle.  The female ran away toward the college.

Suspect described as a white male 20-40 years old, short hair/possibly balding.

Vehicle description- white 4 door, small box shape.

Prevention Advice
  • Stay in well-lit, well-traveled streets.
  • Walk halfway between curbs and buildings, away from alleys, entries, and bushes.
  • Avoid shortcuts through wooded areas, parking lots, or alleys.
  • Try to travel in pairs. It reduces your chance of being a victim of a street crime.
  • If someone is following you on foot, cross the street, change directions, or vary your pace.
  • If someone follows you in a car, turn around and walk in the opposite direction.
  • Beware of your surroundings, always trust your instincts.

Type of Crime / Nature of Incident

Larceny From A Motor Vehicle – Over the past four days there has been three vehicles broken into within the Stoddard Parking Lot, two of the vehicles were rummaged through and nothing was taken.  The third vehicle had a GPS system taken from off the dashboard.

Assault and Battery

A female was grabbed by the arm and pushed while walking toward the Campus Center from the area of the fountain. She stated she yelled out and a second male by the name of Josh came to her aid and scared off the perpetrator.   No Weapons were brandished.

WPI Police request that anyone who may information about the incident to please contact the Campus Police and/or Officer Jay Dylewicz.

Suspect: Described as a tall white male with reddish brown hair.

21 Elbridge Street Worcester, MA

Type of Crime / Nature of Incident

Assault Battery Dangerous Weapon (shod foot) / Unarmed Robbery.

On November 8, 2007 at approximately 10:40pm a WPI student was exiting her vehicle on Elbridge Street and was jumped from behind by two males and physically assaulted.  The suspects riffled through her purse and backpack and stole a credit card.

Suspect 1:  White male early 20's, black jacket, jeans, wearing addidas sneakers with 3 red stripes.

Suspect 2:  Tall male approximately 6' 3", 200 pounds, black frizzy hair below ear length, wearing dark jeans and black zippered jacket w/hood.

Larceny From A Motor Vehicle – This past weekend on 9/22 and 9/23 two motor vehicles parked in the Library parking lot and one vehicle parked on Boynton Street were broken into.  Stolen from all three vehicles were portable Global Positioning Systems (GPS).

Type of Crime / Nature of Incident

Dog Bite - At approximately 3:20pm WPI Police were notified by the City of Worcester Animal Control Officer that a male subject was breaking up a fight between a cat and Dog in the vicinity of Institute Road at Dean Street. As a result, the dog bit the arm of the individual and caused serious damage to the forearm.

Current Status / Status of Investigation

The City of Worcester Animal Control is investigating the matter and is seeking any help in locating the dog. The dog is described as follows:
Description: Older German Shepard with long hair, black, brown and grey in color. If anyone should spot this dog or a dog similar in description please contact Animal Control at the following number: +1-508-799-1211.

During the past few days two lockers were broken into at the library and books were stolen. A laptop was also stolen from the campus center 1st fl. Lounge.
