WPI ColorsIn WPI's early years, individual classes would adopt class colors. In the early 1870s, students expressed an interest in having school colors. Gray was chosen first, in 1873; crimson was added in 1889. WPI's visual identity system includes a version of the WPI Crimson and the WPI Gray as its primary colors. A set of 12 other colors, selected for their compatibility with the primary colors, form a supporting color palette for use in university publications and other visual communications. Below, each of these colors is illustrated with its official name, Pantone color number, hexadecimal number (for Web pages), RGB and CMYK color values. The Pantone colors (or the best possible match) should be used in all WPI print and electronic communications. Please note: The color blocks below are provided only as approximations of the actual colors in the WPI color palette. Differences in computer monitors and printers make it impossible to accurately represent color chips via the Web. Official PMS color chips for these colors may be viewed in the offices of University Marketing. WPI's Primary Colors
Supporting Color Palette
In addition to the above colors, a thirteenth supporting color, Putty is used exclusively for the WPI home page and for the template of "university" pages, as defined in the Web Policies beginning in February 2005. Maintained by webmaster@wpi.eduLast modified: Mar 21, 2007, 16:09 EDT
