D Term IGSD Brown Bag Lunch: China's Eco Cities

On Wednesday, April 18th, the IGSD and Environmental and Sustainability Studies Department hosted a Brown Bag lunch with a presentation by I-Chun Catherine Chang and Eric S. Sheppard, Department of Geography, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, on "China's Eco-cities as Variegated Urban Sustainabiliy: Dongtan Eco-city and Chongming Eco-island." Their presentation focused on how sustainability is "imagined and practiced on the ground within the distinctive Chinese context" and addressed challenges such as urbanization and agriculture within the two cities of Dongtan and Chongming.
