  • WPI recognized in AASHE Bulletin for East Hall Education and Design Showcase
  • Launched Carpoolworld website to encourage community carpooling
January 2010
  • Recyclemania 2010 begins
  • US News & World Report includes WPI in article on sustainability efforts on campus and features East Hall in “10 Colleges with Green Dorms”
  • Chartwell’s launches support of the Flexitarian – the individual who improves his health and the environment by having at least one meatless meal per week
February 2010
  • Student Eco-Reps are launched on campus, representing all resident halls
  • WPI is recognized as “one of America’s Top Green Colleges” by US Green Building Council and Princeton Review
  • WPI students win the Colleges of Worcester Consortium Engagement Award; Student IQP addressed a green energy evaluation of the Worcester Art Museum
  • Professor Apelian receives grant for developing new technologies for maximizing the recovery and recycling of metals

  • Staff Eco-Reps are launched, totally 26 volunteers across campus
  • WPI participates in “Give A Book Program”
