- Chartwell’s launches support of the Flexitarian – the individual who improves his health and the environment by having at least one meatless meal per week

- Student Eco-Reps are launched on campus, representing all resident halls
- WPI is recognized as “one of America’s Top Green Colleges” by US Green Building Council and Princeton Review
- WPI students win the Colleges of Worcester Consortium Engagement Award; Student IQP addressed a green energy evaluation of the Worcester Art Museum
- Professor Apelian receives grant for developing new technologies for maximizing the recovery and recycling of metals
