Facilities
Students in all of the programs benefit from an excellent faculty and some of the finest facilities anywhere in the new Life Sciences and Engineering Center at Gateway Park. These include cutting-edge equipment for research in cellular, molecular, and developmental biology, biochemistry, computational biology, genomics, and neuroscience. The graduate experience is further enhanced by the availability of several world-class research centers housed both in the Life Sciences and Engineering Center and across campus.
- Bioengineering Institute (BEI)
- Bioprocess Center: State-of-the-art Bioprocess center that includes a computer controlled IF- 75L fermenter. The Center operates both as a facility for contract research and development and graduate/undergraduate course work.
- Imaging Center: A sophisticated imaging center for both static and live cell microscopy containing (types of scopes here) several inverted microscopes, Zeiss Axioplan, micromanipulators and an atomic force microscope.
- Model systems facilities: Facilities geared to working with a variety of microbial, invertebrate, vertebrate, plant and cell culture systems (ie. Arabidopsis, C. elegans, Drosophila, M. musculus, Marine shrimp, Saccharomyces, and Xenopus) are present
