About Us

The Civil & Environmental Program at WPI prepares graduates for careers in civil engineering, emphasizing professional practice, civic contributions and leadership, sustained by active life-long learning. The curriculum combines project based learning environment with a broad background in the fundamental principles of civil engineering. Students have the flexibility to explore various civil engineering disciplines and career opportunities.

The Department offers a Bachelor of Science in Civil & Environmental Engineering. At the graduate level, the Department offers the Master of Science (MS) and the PhD in civil engineering; the MS in environmental engineering and construction project management; the Master of Engineering (ME), a practice oriented degree, with environmental engineering and master builder concentrations; and Graduate and Advanced Graduate Certificates. All programs may be pursued on a part-time or full-time basis, and some courses are available via streaming video through WPI's Advanced Distance Learning Network.

Karen O'Sullivan Selected as a winner of the 2009 IRF (Int'l Road Federation) Student Essay Competition for the Pavement Technology, Maintenance and Management category. Karen will be honored at the annual TRB (Transportation Research Board) convention in Washington DC, January 2010.
